Yamaha FZ-16 : Street Fighter looks
The Yamaha FZ-16 is surely one of the best looking naked bike in its class with its macho and muscular looks. The macho tank, aggressive front heavy stance and the rear view with street fighter looks will make you fall for it. FZ-16 will be powered by single-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve, fuel-injected 150cc engine. The bike would weigh about 124 kg and the top speed will be around 140 km/h.

This bike does not focus on top speed (According to my information..115+5 that’s it..)but torque-torque - torque..that’s what it’s area of specification…The Guy who rode told me that,it’s pulling power is too high.This one will have high pulling power in lower rpm..unlike any sports bikes..RTR AND R15 does not have these kind of torque..

Yamaha Motor India Private Ltd would launch three new bikes in India including Gladiator Type SS and RS (125 cc), YZF- R15 (150 cc, liquid cooled) and FZ (150 cc, air-cooled) this year. The company also plans to invest Rs 700-800 crore in the country to go into product development, marketing and manufacturing, indicated P Sam, group head, marketing and sales, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd.
Showcasing the three new bikes at the 9th Auto Expo at New Delhi, Sanjay Tripathi, department head, product planning and strategy, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd, said that the bikes, in sync with the Yamaha DNA, have features from the original bikes with fine tuning being done to fit the Indian needs.
Like the YZF-R15 has percolated technology from R1. It also has the R1 six-speed transmission. Similarly, the FZ is being toned down to 150 cc from the existing global version of 1,000 cc.
“In the coming three years, we plan to concentrate on sports bikes,” said Kajikawa Takashi, president and chief executive officer, Yamaha Motors Co. Ltd.
Adding that the company plans to turnaround the future of Yamaha in India. Recently, the company launched Super Sports YZF-R1 (1,000 cc) and Torque Sports MTO1 (1,670 cc) in India.
Tsutomu Mabuchi, said, “We are not strong and competitive player. We want to strengthen our presence here with the support from Yamaha (Japan).”
YAMAHA FZ16 is nowhere comparible in its style and looks with running available models in india. and LOOKS like REAL SPORTS BIKE.

wow what a cool bike fz16 is looking too good i tried the r15 in showroom at mumbai and it feels very easy to ride and control hope the yamaha fz16 has same seat height (about 31 inch) as it allows for relaxed riding in traffic.

fz 16 is good for power and torque and also it is naked bike so you can see chain engine etc which makes it cheap to repair and macho to look at. perfect machines both yamaha r15 and yamaha fz 16 man i wish I could have both at the same time. It is so difficult to choose between the two.

I have seen this bike and it ROCKS man. Every other biker is going to be jealous until he owns one. Great going YAMAHA. Mileage shud be around 40-45 kmpl under normal conditions.

Looks like it will give 40 kmpl mileage with those wide tyres.. i heard the weight is around 125kgs although it looks heavy. In short seems good value for money but will need a test ride before i can switch to Fz16

The bike looks are soo awesome that I instantly took my decision of booking the bike and will mostly get the deliverly by 9th October.

the only thing i dont like abt dis bike is its tank is very good in looking but its made of plastic it has an advantage the total set including its mudguard,tank are of plastic which can be changed as mobile fone panels which costs rs.1000 only, wat eva colour we want
who said its millage is 36 when r15 is givin around 38 its minimum millage will 45 for sure
Not happy with both R15 & FZ16. They are under powered bikes. They both should have come with 2 to 3 bhp more. Now the other choices which will b there this year are Pulsar 200-fi, Apache 180-fi, Suzuki 150 & May be New Honda 225.

I was on the verge of buying a cbz-X, however got to know abt fz15 in the news paper, i have already booked one and its the Flaming Orange.. Average wud be above 40kmpl..The delear told to me that i will get it after 15th oct and before 20th oct. This is the only bike which never made me think even twice befour buying it.
The test ride was awsome.. the bike just launched like a missile when i put it in third gear… The handling is mind blowing.. All the owners of other bikes are going to get jealous now…

the yamaha fz 16 looks like any other normal bike man truly dont get carried away by what people say have a look at the fz 16 and then you will know the all digital info. panel looks so small and front of bike looks very common not so fun compared to the r15 look. R15 truly looks like a sports bike and the yamaha fz 16 looks more just another common bike fat tyres are also not that impressive besides it does not have FI not both disc brakes (only front). anyways, thats what i think… you get what you pay for

hi! freinds… Few days ago i was confused to buy a bike.. thought about
Honda Stunner but did not go for it because of its 125cc engine,
Unicorn is a good bike however it looks very simple, TVS apache has every thing power and looks but T.V.S guys messed up the bike with its size, it looks like a toy on street.
“BAJAJ” Pulsar was no where in my mind, they make good wadrobes and celing fans not engines.
CBZ was the last option though it dosent looks so good from front but has the quality and power..
How ever thanks to YAMAHA they launched fz16 it did not take me second to take the decision to get this beast.
It has Power,Looks and Quality. i have booked Flaming FZ-16 a week ago but i am yet to get a test ride. The Yamaha Riders Outlet in camp Pune those guys are not ready to give test ride and asked me to wait until 7th oct to get a test ride.
I am going to enjoy my ride.. It gives average of around 35 Kmpl.. but the Yamaha guys Boast of about 50.. LOL
This is the bike…. but puny fellows don’t even think of buying this.. this is for hunks (like me)… muhahahhahahahahah

I have recently booke this Bike at bangalore. I had been to the showroom. I was just having a look at all the parts of the bike. I would like to add some observations that I had after a First look at this bike.
Advantages-
- Great Look I would Rate it 10/10
- Rear Tyre - Awesome 10/10
- The tachometer - Digital - Real sport bike look
- Total Digital Meters
- Comfortable to Sit (Tried by me)
- All the three colors suit the bike. Anyone wants to buy can go for any of the three colors
- Front forks are excellent
- Rear Mono Suspension
Disadvantages-
- Number Plate in the pront
- Small digi meter - Difficult to look in while driving
- Back Light - Could have been better
- Mileage will be affected due to the thich rear tyre.
- No kick Start
Over all i would say one thing
Whatever disadvantages I have discussed will be far behind the advantages. We can easily overlook the disadvantages that have been found in the Bike
The Bike costs around 75000 K
Looking forward to give a more detailed review on the bike after I get a hands on the same

I have one suggestion. Dont place a rectangulat number plate.
Add a plate like carved numbers and alphabets at the same location.
The number plate would look like

Bike is gr8 for sure!….But…. (1). Mileage will be 35-40 as it hv Very fat types, 14PS Power & No fuel injection (2).Weight will be located on Front like R15 (3). Coz of less weight at rear Braking confidence will be low in Single. (4). It can Beat Pulsar 150, Unicorn, Hunk. But CAN’T beat APACHE RTR 160/FI coz APACHE HV MORE POWER(15.2 BHP/15.7BHP) & KILLING ACCELERATION. (5). Look mileages…Yamaha R15(wit FI)=40; Pulsar 150=50+; Hunk=50+; Unicorn=50+; Apache RTR=50 ; Apache EFI=55+ ; Pulsar 220=40 ETC…

It looks odd bcoz we are used to seeing no. plate below our headlight..
every motorbike lover will like to own a bike from the Yamaha’s portfolio! C’mon! They are definitely not the economy models that, otherwise, the India motorcycle market has, but they certainly display amazing power and engine performance. It’s but unfortunate that the Bajajs and the Hero Hondas threw Yamaha out of gear during the last the decade just for the obvious price reason.
And, Yamaha these days is revamping its efforts to dig out its buried image, with their latest releases, the Yamaha R 15 and Yamaha FZ16 world-class bikes.
yamaha has a class unlike bajaj famous for tubelights,bulbs,fans etc. tvs famous for washing machine when comes 2 hero honda its market is only india

I have done a dummy number plate on Paint on the Bike. Could u let me know your mail ID so that i can send the JPEG file to u. If u like the new idea that i put well then u need not ask the traffic police and directly use the concept. But the only problem here u will face will be u need to dig holes on the front mudguard. but i didnt find any harm in doing so

The bike just looks so gorgeous, 6 months back none of us wouldn’t have even imagined of having something like this, God!! why didn’t this bike came earlier!! I went for a P200,not that 200 is bad but …I ll have to admit this looks so much better!!

it’s going to rock the indian road
I had seen the FZ16 in delhi at the Auto-Expo & at that time it was called the FZ15 it was a prototype & had a tyre size of 130 but now it has 140 size tyre at the rear. At that time I saw that the head-light that it was not matching the bike & the no. plate to was looking like it had a band-Aid on its head so the only idea that came to mind was to replace the head light & the tiny speedo with a that of the Apache’s head-light & speedo.
i allready use TVS Victor but now i want 2 purchase fz16 its really cool bike can u tell me what is the price at Bangladesh and how milage of this bike

Top speed of the fz16 is 111kph on par with other 150cc bike in our country except for the R15 150cc bikes in our Country.
Hey Yasser the plastic covering of the tank is alright.. because of it that
1st>tank has that shape and
2nd>the weight of the bike has reduced so
the first thing helps the bike get its macho looks and the second thing helps it get a good pick up and a better milage wi\hich will compensate the milage lost because of the rear tyre..
so its just a win win situation nothing to loose but be careful u dont get the bike crashing into something as that covering might break and u wud need to shell out money, but if u had a metal tank it wud have got a dent and taking out the dent would also cost u and the tank will never look the same and also the paint can get dammeged..

As far as I am concerned the real test will be done as soon as you hit the roads with ur new bike.
Do not depend on any reviews given or shared by the showroom ppl. The only thing u can do is wait for the bike and get the information as soon as u start riding.

For everybody’s information who are comparing fz with pulsars 150,180………….. the bikes are discontinued by bajaj as they are c’ming up with a new line up next year.
I will definately say fz looks good, for now in 150cc it is the best buy(R15 is diff. bike no comparision).
Yamaha offers a high quality product no doubt in that.
Best value for money still is p200–more resale value, low maintenance, sturdy, very powerful, same price as fz. The best thing bajaj is home company, our money remains in our country, with our support they can provide us world class products without spending the way we do now for acquiring the so called high performance bikes.
Biking never means specs written on a piece of paper
it lies within the rider, whether it is pulsar, uni, hunk FZ————-it hardly matters……rest is all as said in my delhi “”sHOsHA”…

i have booked my bike even i have r15,
but fz is more good than r15 as r15 is not so comfortable for long journeys as u cant sit for long time holding ur back downwords.

and beleive me go only for orange colour its very eye catching.

For the first line i agree to yasser that both rider and bike needs to be perfect to have a best combination……but as far as FZ is concerned it is not at all a very technologically advance bike….
IT HAS:
1. A very basic SOHC engine which is the standard engine type used in indian bikes.
2.Moderately ergonomic two valve system.
3.Good old standard diamond frame.
4.Max power output is 14PS, for regular biking it stands out to be around 10-11PS–not gud for pro bikers.
5.Lacking a cooling system — means cannot drive over 75 KMPH for long time — else engine suffers a lot.
Styling, Digital rpm meter and advanced sound reduction mechanism in exhaust doesnt make a bike technologically advance
Dont feel offended…. but this is truth…..
I will never say the same thing for R15…thts different.

There are marketing people who invest their life in calculating and measuring the risk and benifits of launching a bike. Its not a childs game. They spend crores and crores for just a single launch
Think before you comment on a bike gaint on their new launches. I am not talking about only Yamaha. Its for all the bike giants.
They will have studied the whole market before launching anything like FZ16

- Liquid Cooled Engine

Isnt it. But just look at the price Yamaha would have put. 1.8 Lakhs
Would indians be happy to buy this bike. Is it worth for Yamaha to spend such huge amount of money for this bike in india.
As soon as Yamaha R15 came people started telling that 1.1 Lakh for a 150 cc bike. Crap and all.
Who went in deep for the technology they had used for that bike. Same thing would have happened if they had added some new technologies in FZ16. And the cost for the same 153cc bike would have been 90000.
Would anyone like that price again for a 153cc bike.
Talking abt technology the auto-educated can know of it and get used to it to some level, but think of the level of usage. How many in india can put a bike to max power or torque in city riding conditions where they usually have to live. So do the bikes and technology in india are going to inflate slowly for optimal level of usage. Take yamaha! Don’t you think it cant take bikes to next level privided resources as other companies does exclusively to biking. Can’t yamaha design fz 16 with rear disk, fancy straight handle bars, advanced digital meter as of RTR Fi does!!!! Yes it can but tell me for how many days RTR Fi digital console is going to work properly, can tyres have road grip, vibes are null even at low rpm, can RTR Fi withstand long!!! I say definitely No?? On the contrary a bike with less price giving more mileage is picked by most indians rather that a comfortable bike of high cost and low mileage. BIKE gives mileage and stamina gives up of its discomfortness by ages!!
So, power is not only concerned the level of usage and the comfort in driving and many others are give atmost importance coming to Motorbikes in India!

you are right sandy. I fully agree with you. most important is that how much the engine can last as the indian manufactured bikes starts giving problem after 3-4 years and they need hig maintanence.

You think logically..and your assumptions are also quite accurate.
You can conclude from your statement itself, that yamaha is here to earn money. You shell out money for yamaha now, it will give you same thing in return after five years, as they are concerned about there profit margins which is left after completing all national formalities posed by our country.
Think other way you shell out money in home company now….they utilise that money, grow and bring a much more refined product after some period.
Result: Nation grows,economy strethens(In our case it means much cheaper and better bikes), all together we are more secure & economically better.
Above statements are applicable in everything not just bikes.
Quality wise you cannot say that probably bajaj is providing inferior quality products.
but you can say that they are not so refined as compared to foreign brands, they will be in c’ming times.
I said bajaj because this is the only company that is sincerely investing in the R&D.
For bike enthusiasts I will say in the price tag what fz offers, p200 is a better option and believe me it will give you more than your expectations. p200 & p220 are built with a lot of R&D behind them, they are not just the extensions of there ancestors.
Set aside a brand like yamaha. p200, p220 were the bikes which brought forward the concept of high torque biking in india which was previously dominated by sluggish propelled bikes(dont want to name them).
Just think about it PROFESSIONALLY !!!!

How abt transportation any many other charges they been offended! Even thought like others say FZ 16 with low technology, more price tag yamaha earns a lot and it is only for money, i strongly disagree with it as it applies to onself on any other aspect like! What would you prefer a product with 10years life of india’s or 11years life of other for less difference of money value. To what extent do you think the money spent on indian bikes will help to improve our economy and technology (taking corruption in account). How much do you think any individual company anywhere will utilize their profits for further developments(all are individual profits of their own not for the country). !!!!!!!!So, it is that which bike is best among best and not best among ours!!!!!
Let me tell you p200 was first launched in malaysia and other asia-pacific countries, where this bike was highly appreciated by the majority in its range.
This bike returned huge profits to india.
There the specs 0f p200 are 19.8 bhp, topspeed of 145 kmph. In india because of govt. restrictions and market policies the specs are 18.2 bhp & top speed of 130kmph.
The advances which yamaha boasts in its bike are practically immaterial in the current range of bikes.
If you will consider the lige term ergonomics for the available options then fz can never aproach the top position.

You are speed demon—–bike’s life—–4-5 years that too decreasing on yearly basis and spend a lot on maintenance to atleast retain its current performance.
You are an average bike enthusiast—-7-8 years, bike becomes sluggish after three years, now you use it chiefly for commuting—”chalti ka naam gadi.
You drive like typical indian “”Papas” and maintain well - bike is yours forever depends on you how long you want.
Above figures common for all bikes in india.(Do not consider TVS and Suzuki(indian) in it).

Hi Rahul! You need not worry about delivery of ur bike! Even TVS dealers are so!!!!!! Firstly i planned to go for RTR Fi- but of its lack of production and dates due of delivery i just stopped from booking. He demanded me 5000/- and not sure of bike even after 3 months! I can Pulsar 200 is the best byk to ride but only on Highways but on roads it suck for less rotation of its handel…. so taking a turn is a big problem in it…
Abt RTR Fi -> It has best looks but i really dont have trust in TVS engin…it always has starting problem..

Hi Rahul! Nice to here from you. Booked my angel on 27th sept and got to get by 25th. First they told, from 1st delivery starts but postponed till 15th, hope to get by this month end. I think once in all delivery will start. I have gone to check my booking at pearl yamaha showroom today! They told me 15th is official launching day.

hello guys! love to all. yes we all know that 18 bhp is more then 14 bhp which yamaha fz16 has but just answer to my simple question- thus any bike maker in india has produced the bike like R15 with 149cc power and 17 bhp. thats technology man. and i am sure that the 14 bhp of yamaha will fight with pulsor 180cc .thats for sure.and it must be noted down if you will increase the power bhp of the bikes it will cut down to fuel average.this is my words-gather 10,000 people in india who are ready to pay for technology(approximately1.5 lakhs to 2 lakhs. ) then yamaha will definately produce the bike around 250cc with latest techonlogy . we all need technology but when the time come to pay we are thaaan thaaaan gopal. why we are making excuses for the r15 rear tyres. just rear tyre…. its all about money man.1.10 lakhs for r15. but those who got the money are going for it. they dont make excuses. and india is a democratic country , if anyone have money they have right to buy this bike. yes fz16 might be common in few months but dear if we are going for status then go for R1 (NOT R15) and i am sure you will find NOT MORE THEN one or two bikes in your city. i got the red beauty yesterday, and this bike is gr8, i m from delhi and the onroad price that i got is 68933, the thing i dislike that it doesnot have leg guard, i will have to put it from outside market and does not have any footrest in saree guard (difficult for ladies to travel)
I have been waiting the same.I booked My bike on 21 sep.first i was told that i would be getting it on the 9 oct.I just visited the store today and they are telling that will be getting the bike on the 20 oct.

I booked my bike from Yamaha Riders Shoroom in camp MG road. And i am very upset today as i had gone to the showroom this morning as i was supposed to get my bike today and the guy there told me that no Orange colour bike has come and the situation is same everywhere, and the bikes in the first lot are only black and red and asked me to wait until 22nd. I am realy unhappy and i cant do any thing except wait til 22nd.

Today evening i got the opputurnity to take a test ride of FZ16.. all i can say at this moment is that i just wanted to go on riding and riding and riding… never felt the comfort the handiling in any bike befoure not even in Karizma and R15.. and the sound of the firing was a pleasure to hear… I was Cutting Through the Traffic like a hot Knife Cutting through Butter and all the Dam Eyes of the People on streets on me and believe me people will still look at this bike even after 2 to 3 years its really a GEM.. Guys I am in Love with this Bike and this wud be my second love and my first love is Yamaha RX100 and RX100 will remain my first love Forever…
Yamaha only has the gift of making people fall in love with its Bikes.. All credits to Yamaha Engineers.. love u guys..
And One more thing I got to know that Yamaha has a line up of 4 more bikes :-).. I got to know this from the dealer. He was hesitant to tell me this but i took it out from him.. And if any one of u or ur freinds are planning to buy a new bike, if u have patients then it may prove helpfull to u as u will have a little more choice.. But i cant wait any longer i have already waiting since 1 year…
In gurgaon, ymaha have no good finance service and not a goood dealership also. Banks are not tie-up with yamaha.

i drive just 50 km in 2 days so here is my very short experience on my red fz…!!!
once you ride on this beauty you’ll start feeling confident,as far as riding position it is very comfertable,manuvering on road in the traffic is awesome.pickup even on low rpm is very good,the shockers are very well made their resonces are very good even on bumpy road thats may be b’coz of its big thick front shocker and mono one at the rear, and all of above the looks of this bike are killer from back and from front as well for those who like naked bike.some guys from my office tried this bike all ppl like its macho look but few ppl against it as well what they feel there should be small fairing on headlight like pulser b’coz those ppl aren’t aware of what naked means ..LOLS! few ppl start comparing it with pulser 220 and 200 but i tried to make them undertand that this bike doesn’t belong to those league but they didn’t understand so i leave them to live on thier on thinking:)as far as top speed so b’coz of run in period i’m not going more than 50 now but even in that speed engine is so smooth.headight is very powerfull, i think it’s most powerfull than any other bike avalable in india
as far as i dislike of the bike i don’t like thet sound of this bike it is so silent type some time i feel it is not start on red light lols and the back seat is little less spacious as well. the meter is little cluter as well if yamaha can make it little bigger than it’ll be easy to read it under direct sun light as well.no front protection leg gaurd which i feel importent in the delhi traffic and i ask dealer about that then he replied that may be in near future we’ll get that leg gaurd for this machine.
overall i feel very proud to be the owner of this head turning beauty.every ones say wow once they first see this bike

ive booked the Orange color but the deler has got only Red n Black byk stock… it will come till 27 Oct… its almost 40 days ive booked the bike n im dying to ride it……..
The byk looks g8 from behind…… but i guess in Black colour some one can tell its a modified pulsar or some thing……
but really its a g8888 bike….
One more thing…
There is one drawback for all the byk owners….
The bike looks is soooo Awesome that we cant even think of modifing it in future… wht say!!!!!

If mileage is the only think you look in a bike maybe you need to look at 125 CC XCD or 135 CC discover.
guys dealer told me that it’ll give 45-50 kmpl mileage but what i thinnk it’ll give you 40 kmpl atleast….!

hello guys my dealer in chandigarh told me that the lot of 40 vehicle(only upto 40 vehicles booked for lot 1) is coming today AFTER 9 p.m and delievery of vehicle may be started from saturday onwards.but i am confused to buy the vehicle on saturday because it has been said no new things especially iron should be purchased on saturday. so i may get it on this sunday.(all depends on the lot of vehicle coming or not or the dealer might gave me another date tomorrow) . mine is a orange colour as its a mixture of red and yellow and guys nyou all dont know howmuch yellow is lucky for me .

I stay in chandigarh too.I inquire about the delivery of the bikes everyday and mine was the nineth booking in chandigarh.The showroom guys say that the bikes are on the way and the trucks are taking time because of the upcoming puja.I was promised that i would be getting the bike on 9th of october and it has been a long time since then.i finally got a final word from the dealers that the bike would be available on tuesday(21st).M keeping my fingers crossed….

hello raju one more thing i want to tell you that the yamaha dealers are asking for upto 1600 rupee for the bike insurance .(when i asked them the cost for insuring the bike). but i confirmed from other places that it will cost upto 1400 rupee. so why they are charging more or what is the exact figure they told you?

yes the voucher that the dealers gave me on payment of the booking token money has a invoice number.I booked the bike on 30th september.the dealer quoted the same amount for insurance(i.e 1600)which i also found is higher.I have booked a red one,and lemme tell you it doesn’t matter which color you order as the colored panels are all changeable.The whole kit comes for around 1700 and i have already told them to get a black and a blue one for me if available.That means you have a new bike everyweek.Cheers to yamaha’s innovation…

Ya i booked my bike at Pearl Yamaha(Madhapur-HYD) on 27th Sept. I have to tell one thing my friend! I firstly intended for a bike with optimal power and good mileage of 50+/ltr, but on catching this bike with its amazing looks i changed my idea of having ease of driving and comfort to mileage! I am less bothered if it gives me 40+/ltr. What would you choose if two bikes with same power ond one with more mileage! Why not Yamaha offer the one with more mileage? I came to know when compring with other bikes, comming to Yamaha mileage checkbox is just dropped from the list! Why is it so!
TAKING this to the other side I STRONGLY go for YAMAHA
Coming to bike delivery dealers are deceiveing us! Firstly even they are not sure of themselves! How can they be on other products of some other country. Take it litee and as per my idea of bashing them daily is the only way to get the Macho soon!!

I got my Orange Fz on 18th thats sunday evining and i hav already completed around 40 km..
The first thing i did is i wanted to check the fuel eficiency the dealer filled 1 liter fuel and i then filled 1 liter more and i plan to ride the bike today till the tank gets empty and i am expecting any where between 35 to 45 kmpl in city.
And talking about the looks every one on the roads are just keep on staring at it.. one of the guy in my college sat on my bike and asked his freinds to click pictures of him.. this is the craze of FZ-16..
And now if i talk about riding one word “Awsome”
The central mass gives u the confidance with the long handle bar giving u the control of the bike like never befour and the wide tubeless rear tire gives u an awsome grip on the road.. Its Head light is very powerfull. The pulling power is bind blowing, accidently i did a wheely not much but just a little.
I am Very happy with the seat it brings closeness between me and my girl sitting behind me :-).
There is no legguard which eliminates the geniune tag of commuter bike. Removing sari guard will also add to its looks, which i am going to do.

I booked my RED FZ on 22-9 at pune (wakdewadi). The showroom guy told me that the bike is available but some RTO stuff is pending. He also asked me to take away the bike but with some legal hitch… god knows.
Well according to him i will get get the bike on 24-10.
But yes the reviews by shoeb and akhil… have made me impatient about this byk. could you both write more about the pick-up and cornering of this byk.
i brought my last yamaha ybx some 9-10 yrs back and since then i was waitin for another power pack yamaha which is on road now.
i didnt like R 15 coz i feel the bike is too big for a 150 cc engine. no doubt i salute the engineers at yamaha that they packed the R1 technology in R15 but i felt the the byk is not fit for 150 cc, also the tyres are disappointing.
CRUX, FAZER, LIBERO… forget them as bad dreams.. god knows what went wrong with yamaha those days,,,,
but now no looking back.. YAMAHA ROCKS…..
hello raju these yamaha dealers are making fool of everyone.they even called me for thr total cash money but i refused and said you handle me the bike i will take it after checking for scratches etc and then will pay the entire amount in minutes. they didnt said anything more and asked me to come on wednesday after the call from them.and if you want insurence at less .cost so do write to me and accompany me on wednesday

today i cald showroom guys, they said they got 20 bikes out of 50 bikes. all d bikes alrdy went, i said ill pay total amt. then he is saying sure if u pay total amt we will adjust u, otherwise u need to wait next slot. that comes nov 5th r 2nd week starting.
i dont knw these showroom guys marketing strategies!!!!!
but my mom saying dont buy IRON kind of things before this coming AMAVASYA( Diwali). so i would like to take it after 28th of this months. may be next slot.

Puneet my freind fz looks great in all the thre colours and all the 3 colours
are diferent the Red is not really red its very bold or deep red same with black
and talking about orange it really flaming and looks extremely good in sun.
and not like keser.
and the pick up is more than what u can expect from looking at its power figures and
i think that is only because of its weight and torque balance i think, my bike just zips through the traffic.

It feels the bike has a desire to win street drags and its been made for the same..
about leg gaurd its better u dont put any as u will be messing up the looks
Beautiful things come delicate and expensive and we must take care of them
in case we break the tank covering it wil cost us less than 2200.. and chandu if u can afford to fill
fuel after every 35km then this shud not be a big problem. and what i wud sugesst u is rather be
positive and confident while riding and dont worry about any accident inshallah u wont dammage ur bike.

One thing I forgot to mention in my review is that the placement of footpegs and the handlbar gives an increadebily comfortable riding position.
First i thought if it wud hav had a short handle bar and foot pegs placed little behind for a sporty feel but i realised i was wrong and it cant be better than the position it gives.

I booked for Red Macho. Yesterday i have gone to showroom once again for his daily dosage. Same thing happened of what u have told about full payment and the sales person asked for some amount for arranging prior to slot delivery. Ya i have seen orange macho and its looks nice than what i thought of, No i dont think i have mentioned yellow colour. i Forgot to say that yesterday i had testride of it and i drove it with ease, but to me personally i feel it to be somewhat hard! (I know it is new to drive so, have to wait till first service for smooth free-ride).

its required strongly. cuz if bike fell down major dammage hapns to fuel tank. cuz at first the fuel tank touches the ground.
yesterday i spoke to showroom ppl they r saying handle bar will protects the tank if it fell down. (thats stupid problem solving answer , i think so)

MY FZ DID 51 km in two liters normal petrol.. I am Suprised i was expecting it to give atleast 70 km.
This might be because i was riding my bike in reserve and i guess after 1st and second servicing it might give atleast 35 kmpl..
Akhil even u hav got ur bike plz let us know what is the average ur bike is giving as u had filled 500Rs i know it wil take time but i am egarly waitng for ur bike average.

That’s way below what the company claims…as for now YAMAHA has always kept it’s word(they claimed that they are going to comeup wid the fastest bike in india-R15).

i’m still running my bike in the same 500 rs petrol abhee tak i did 260 km but abhee tak still it is in on mode no res abhee tak so let’s see when i’ll get reserve and abhee tak i didn’t get manual of the bike to don’t know res keetne ltr ka hai 1 ltr ya 1.5 ltr ka to let c how much average of my bike….!:)

I paid the full amount yesterday and am getting my bike by this month end (at least that is what the show room guys promised) cant wait to drive this beauty ..even in 1st gear the bike has amazing pull…the only bad things are the number plate in front (looks like a bandage) and no crash guard…guys any suggestions

Hai Ravi, Even i have booked one. What i have thought about the name plate is that i think it will look great if you get the number stickered on the top side of the head lamp i mean the black side of the head lamp and one of friends have got done it in the same way and it looks damm kool.
Hai Krishna, I think the mileage that u could get would be around 35 to 40 and if you want it to give you a bit more mileage i suggest to get the engine tunned at the showroom itself and remember not before 3 or 4 free services

The problem is i dont know what is the reserve 1.2liters or 2 liters so that i can exact two liters more than reserve and check the average. because riding the bike in reserve is going to lower the average. I am going to check it once more for sure as evn i am not able to belive it.

cuz the battery will run whether it would be one day r one week.
the batter will run at any conditions. that kind of tec.. provided in the bike.
similar kind of tec is also used in Pulsar 200 also. it also doest hav kick.

hey guys has any one heard that suzuki launched GS150R bike and its got the same ingine capacity like the fz16 but with a six gears.Suzuki like Yamaha are know for its super fast bikes so may be the fZ16 got some competition.

hello raj dude— this bike will cost you 65000/ ex showroom and you have to pay road taxes and insurance charges extra. for finance go for nationalised bank or cooperative banks.it depends on the amount financed and the type of bank. and if you booked the bike ,then you have to wait for 20 to two months. and dude frankly speaking this bike is superb and wait for it till your last breadth.and i am not joking dude and go for orange colour its is mind blowing.

Having rode the bike for 4 days, kinldy let me know if anybody had problem with gears, I mean while shifting from 5-4-3-2, I am unable to come down to neutral easily. Kinldy help me out if there’s any way out to know the reason.
hi guys..!! final i got reserved with my fuel and still in 500 rs petrol(9 ltr(PREMIUM ONE))and 1 ltr provided by company (still don’t know abt the capacity of reserve cota tank) it runs 330 (stucked badely many times in diwali jam in delhi traffic ) so it gave me the average of 36+ this time,so i’m waitibg for the next reserve so i’ll give u exact figure of my bike avarage.:) chears…!

got my Bike finally….mine was he third bike in chandigarh…..and i have no words to explain how devine m feeling rt nw…..The pickup….looks……aww man….every bit of this bike calls for ooomphs and aaaahhs……on the street it makes every head turn….The first day i took it for a test…..rode for about 30 kms….full throttle(though the showroom guys asked me to drive within 50 for the first 1000 kms)….and yes yet another master piece from yamaha rollin on the streets…..as of now the bike’s giving an average of 30-32….which i guess would increase to 40’s after the first servicing….to every other FZ owner and ppl who are still waiting for it….welcome to the excusive yamaha fraternity……

nd for the FZ16 - it is - Overall Length × Width × Height : 1,975mm × 770mm × 1,045mm
so guys………….lukin at the numbers……….seems the FZ is even smaller than the R15…………..

The second blow from Yamaha India came in the form of the newly launched FZ16. Varad More takes the FZ16 for a spin to see if she has what it takes to bring back the glory days like the good’ol Yamahas did…
“Hey! It’s 6.00pm right now. Let’s catch a movie at 6.45pm at Adlabs? Say what guys?” Heads nod in agreement. The dudes hop onto their motorcycles with the pretty-young-things as pillions and off they go. This is the generation, which demands something cool, hip and stylish. Every thing that they ever want has “Cool” as its USP – something that screams “Look at me!” And the Yamaha FZ16 delivers that in best possible way. My very first ride astride the FZ16 on the streets of Pune had me bathing in envious looks and enquiring stares.
Needless to say how much I enjoyed all that attention I got from the fellow commuters and passersby, including a lot of women (Guys are you listening?) – the FZ16 caught the fancy of everyone. Just like the YZF-R15, once again this is the design genius of Yamaha’s consultant firm GK Dynamics. They have played a pivotal role in styling and designing most of the Yamaha motorcycles for all these years. And the FZ16 only bares testimony to the fact as to why Yamaha hands over most of its projects to the Tokyo-based firm.
The elegant yet sporty poise of the FZ16 is largely attributed to its muscular and curvy tank with the plastic shrouds. Use of fibre made it easier for Yamaha to craft those curves and edges while the metal fuel tank remains hidden inside the plastics giving the bike a very clean and neat look. The black strip in the centre of the plastic fuel tank shroud reminds one of the similar design cue seen earlier on the TVS Apache RTR – nonetheless, it adds a lot of spunk to the FZ’s naked appeal. Keeping in mind the importance of style on the FZ16, the centre panels too have been carefully designed to look as a pseudo-twin spar frame and they sync perfectly with the sharp and edgy tail panels.
The FZ16 spent almost six months in the Yamaha wind tunnel, so that the respective parts on the bike allowed maximum airflow onto the cylinder block and head. For example, the front wheel mudguard with its sharp curves steers the air toward the cylinder head, while the plastic shrouds below the tank, which carry the Yamaha logo with pride, have also been carefully designed to direct more air to the engine for improved cooling. Yamaha has worked hard, very hard, and the result is here for all to see..
Yamaha has done a brilliant job with the detailing on the FZ16 and it is clearly visible the way its headlight and the exhaust have been crafted. Placed at a low-down angle than seen on most Indian bikes, the headlight presents the FZ16 with an aggressive demeanour. The short and stubby exhaust is borrowed from Yamaha’s international FZ lineage and it successfully compliments the bike’s compact stance.
It really does. Swing a leg over the FZ16 and it will instantly trigger off the feel good factor. The wide flat handlebars, the macho tank, rearset pegs and low seat height together contribute to give the rider a very comfortable and stylish riding posture. Lack of a bikini fairing feels surprisingly nice and the unobstructed sight of what lies in your path, is pleasant for a change.
The stumpy rear view mirrors look good and are extremely functional. The FZ16 really begins to shine in the cityscape as she comfortably squeezes through tight spots maintaining its composure. The fully digital instrumentation upfront houses the usual tachometer, speedometer and fuel gauge and the tell-tale lights. Though the orange backlit display looks uber-chic in the night, during the day the display lacks brightness and it is difficult to read the console.
Open the throttle and the sweet sound emitted through the exhaust by the 153.0cc motor will instantly strum the strings of your heart with finesse of a musical maestro. The air-cooled single cylinder motor has a bore x stroke of 58.0 × 57.9mm translating into a long stroke configuration tuned for low-end and mid-range grunt. The engine has the conventional 2-valves head and it is fed by a 26mm Mikuni carburetor. The carburetor is equipped with Yamaha’s 3-position TPS (throttle position sensor), which works hand-in-hand with the advanced ignition system. The CDI has a 3-dimensional mapped control for more versatile power delivery to suit different riding conditions.
In terms of power and torque, the FZ16 doesn’t break any new grounds but it produces enough punch to make it one of the quickest bikes in its class. The 153cc powerplant makes 14PS of power at 7,500rpm and 13.6Nm of torque developed right from 6,000rpm. The FZ16 touches the 60km/h mark from a standstill in 5.6 seconds and continues to record a top whack of 112.34km/h. That’s respectful performance for a bike which is not aimed at the performance oriented bikers. However, the FZ’s true charm lies in roll-ons and that’s where the 13.6Nm of torque comes handy.
The gear ratios are sorted out to give the FZ a solid mid-range thrust and the bike takes 10.59 seconds in 4th gear to complete the 30-70km/h dash. Even while riding in 5th gear, the difference wasn’t much and it took 12.36 seconds for the FZ16 to do the same. The whole gear changing process is silk-smooth and one need not to keep dancing on the gear lever while dodging city traffic. The 5-speed transmission on the FZ16 is super-refined and it offers precise shifts even at higher revs.
In every sense of the word! Not only is the FZ16 a well-behaved bike, it is also extremely thrilling and fun-to-ride motorcycle on Indian streets. And just incase you get fed up with all the attention, a quick flick of the right wrist is all you will need to reach the state of solitude. Riding through the gaps in traffic and missing those potholes is very easy on the FZ16, thanks to the wide handlebars which allow the rider to give precise steering inputs. The engine is a stressed member and it is packaged inside a diamond type frame. The FZ16 boasts of largest in-class 41mm chunky front forks and they do a great job of keeping the front wheel planted and comfortably absorbing the mid-corner bumps.
The FZ16 is the third bike in India to utilize a monoshock rear suspension, which was introduced by Honda in the Unicorn and later by Yamaha on FZ’s elder sibling, the YZF-R15. The monoshock is mounted directly on the swingarm, unlike the one on the R15 which has a link-type mounting for the rear shock absorber. The meaty swingarm on the FZ16 coupled with its 17-inch alloy wheels and lightweight frame weighing 126kg dry, present the FZ16 spot-on handling characteristics.
Since the time that we have got our FZ16 for the test, I have clocked more than 350km that includes city as well as highway use. For the first time the ride quality might feel a little stiff, but it will only need minor tweaks to the rear suspension to make it better than most bikes in its class. One thing that deserves the mention here is the quality of cycle parts, which is truly upto Yamaha’s international standard. Every single panel fits in perfectly leaving no scope for gaps or misaligned edges. The built is the best in its class and that is one big reason why the FZ16 appeals to the eye in one glance.
This is what determines the sales in our country for majority of the bikes in the 150cc segment. Looks come second. Followed by comfort and stability and last comes performance. In this order the FZ16 already takes full marks in the looks department. Another aspect where the FZ16 really scores is fuel efficiency. The FZ successfully strikes the perfect balance between performance and economy. Even with liberal use of the throttle, the FZ16 surprised us with an over all efficiency of 60.32kmpl. In the city she ran 58.33km on one litre of petrol while on the highway she did 66.32km on same quantum of fuel.
Now that makes the FZ16 a good buy even at a slightly higher price-point than its competition, for you get the best looking motorcycle with adequate performance and outstanding economy at Rs. 73,480 OTR Pune. Yes, it does sound a little expensive for its segment, but if you factor in the complete package and superb built quality on the FZ, it is a good bargain. Leave alone the compliments and all the attention that you will draw while riding it. We are glad that Yamaha has delivered yet another product that has further raised the stakes in this class. I meant self-start is not at all a problem! Yamaha developers might definitly tested it at extreme conditions. About kick-start you can set it up, but not sure of exact cost and fixture details. I heard of it from the dealers that i can fix if needed.

I got ma Red macho on 26th Oct… And sorry to tell you im not at all satisfied with it. And here are the reasons for it
- It has the best pick up and best comfort than any other bikes in India.
- The bike easily reaches speed of 40 on the 3 gear and you ll feel u are ridding on speed of 50-60 on 5th gear but the Speedo meter would have reached 80 Km pr…
- There are almost 10 ppl asking abt the bike ( it feels im a sales man of Yamaha heeee)
- Every person on street have a 2nd look on me
- Wide tiyers have g8888 grip on road and swing during the turns is Awesome…

hello guys i have done 275 kms with this bike but in reality sorry to say that at the speed above 85 the bike start vibrating a lot and all the smothness which we all experienced between 50 to 80 speed is gone. in other words i want to say that the bike loses it power above 85 speed and starts vibrating a lot to reach higher speed.this i experienced many times or i can say every time when i put the throttle to that speed. even the engine is new the bike shouldnot behave like this. i am worried , as i am not satisfied with its performance above 85. i am from chandigarh.
people who know abt bikes will always advice that for new bikes always drive the first 1000 kms below 50 speed this is to make sure the engine settles down but we have people like puneet so eager to drive full speed that they invariably end up fucking their bike.. way to go man u deserve it..by the way r u chondi becoz if u r then it is not surprising!

there are lot of people who have driven and claim that they have reached speeds of 120 i am pretty sure they are not paid by yamaha to fake this claim and if they ever experienced problems like the one faced by puneet they would have mentioned it ..so it seems puneet’s is an isolated case ..dont know whether it is a defect piece or mishandled one.anyways Yahama and FZ16 rocks..

have completed 400 kms till now and managed to reach top speed of 108 kmph, i am sure it is capable of bit more..the good thing is it doesnt vibrate like the pulsars and karizmas at tht speed (dont know how puneet managed to get his bike to vibrate after 85 :))never cared abt mileage but for people who do it is close to 45 km/ltr..overall the bike rocks..with more launches next year YAMAHA is back for good

sorry amar i did’t opend this bolg from last two days.
ya i have taken it from a bikers shop in RAMAKOTI . (cost 300/-) and i fixed in bikes repair shop and he took 100/- for welding. The best part is he fixed the Rod in such a better way, it looks really awesome yaar.
he first attached a small 8inch length (iron piece)rod to the body of FZ( just beside the silencer pipe)more the fixed rod having holes to attach Leg guard. Then he fixed leg guard to that 8inch iron piece. so nobody cant even see the welding part. (thats Kool man).
But i tried 4 to 5 shops to fix leg guard , no one replyed positively yaar. every one saying its not fixeable to FZ. but you know one small kid in a mechanic shop he shown some intrst in this bike and took a leg guard from the shop and we tested if any chances of hitting the front wheel bumper when we completly push the front shock’s. ya we tested it and then i fixed the leg guard
you know i went to show room and i have shown this to manager, he also surprised and he also asking whr i fixed it.
you know guys…. lot of pepl dont know tht i fexed it seperatly. they jus thinkng tht it’s conming with bike. Yester one guy on Orange FZ taken the address.

but i tried lot of shops, but no one said it can be fixable, finally i got one shop.

Finally i got my FZ-Red after two months of waiting and i tell you its Awesome. anybody who is looking for a change in from current bikes in the market can go for this one and guys i am dam sure that you will not be disappointed with the decision.
regarding the mileage i got a 66.6 on the pune highway and in city i am not sure how much it is giving. i have to check it out.
i feel a bit discomfort in the gear while you downing from top to first.
But one thing is there you will be noticed by each and everybody on the Road and be prepared to explain about this bike while you stop in public………

ok…heres my take on the FZ16. I bought one 14 days back.
I didn’t go in for the FZ-S ‘coz i didn’t think the extra price of about 2K was worth it; also i prefer black; also the headlight assembly on the FZ-s and the visor can be bought separately for around Rs. 500/- .

SO here goes.
LOOKS: If u buy this bike be prepared to be looked/stared/peeped/glanced at. This bike draws people anywhere I park or stop. (its just too good looking to look away) seriously it looks best in black. Be aware that black also attracts the most amount of dust and scratches.
ELECTRIC START: The electric start on this baby is very responsive. I haven’t had any problems so far. Personally, I feel the anxiety of not having a kick-start is more of a psychological problem than a functional one. I have yet to see how it responds in cold temperatures. I was told not to install any anti-theft alarm on the bike as that would shorten the life of the battery and if the battery screws up, I don’t have to tell you what you will be doing to get your bike started.
ENGINE & GEARBOX: One of the smoothest engines (after all its a Yamaha) The engine is so smooth that I found I can drive at 25km/h in 5th gear and the bike doesn’t complain. No jerking, no spluttering, no angry noises from the gear box..smooth as a baby’s ass. 14bhp generates enough acceleration to leave behind the rest of the crowd. This is also owing to the fact that Yamaha have reduced the ratio between the 1st and 2nd gear, so you get VERY good acceleration. Gearbox is also very smooth and the gears slide in smoothly. very nice.
HANDLING: The handling of this bike on the road is very good. The 140/80 rear tires (widest on any bike in manufactured in India) supply enough traction to zig zag your way around the curviest of corners and the road grip feels very safe and secure. The shock absorbers are really nice and chews in bumps and potholes like candy floss. I have re-set the rear shocker one notch softer (just a personal preference).
I am still running-in my engine and have done about 450 kms so I can’t tell you about the bikes handling in higher speeds.
My bike is giving me a mileage of 38km/lt as of now. It’s bound to improve on successive servicing so I am expecting 50-55km/lt after the engine settles in.
The pillion seat is a tad uncomfortable for long rides, or so my friend told me.
For the price I wanted the company to provide me with a tubeless tire repair kit with the bike, but well..thats not happening.
One problem I found was that the heel of the pillion rider’s right shoe tends to rub against the top of the silencer which scratches it. I thought of installing a longer footrest, but it seems no company manufactures foot-rests for the right side. Any suggestions anyone?
Its always better to check the rear tire pressure at least once a week, as the tire is a radial so loss of pressure is not really noticeable and hitting a pothole at 50 kmph with low tire pressure will seriously damage your wheel rim.
The leg-guard is of a very good quality and strong, I highly recommend installing one for safety and it doesn’t take away from the looks of the bike as I had initially believed.
I read a lot about people who own FZ16 who are complaining about the fuel efficiency. Try not to ride the bike beyond 4000 rpms for the first 1000 kms. (thats around 60 kmph on 5th gear) I know its hard. When you have a bike like FZ 16 driving below 4000 rmps is like putting yourself through excruciating self inflicted pain..but thats the price you pay for fuel efficiency and a well tuned and responsive engine. Its worth it guys.
What else….(?)…The headlights are great…the indicators don’t beep when on so you will have to make a mental note to switch them off after the turn…I could have used a rear disk brake..and at least 16 bhp..but then..i am not cribbing…just a gentle wishful thinking…someone was asking about footrests for the pillion rider…yes its available..contact your Yamaha spare parts shop. I rode a pulsar 200 and avenger after FZ16..although the engine capacities are entirely different … i must say the ride quality was so much better on the Yamaha (no offence to Pulsar/ Avenger lovers)
Another thing…I don’t like the positioning of the front number plates. I feel they just totally ruin the looks of the bike. (For those who don’t know its mounted between the headlights and the digital console.) I saw some guys have painted their number on the forward angle of the front mud-guard. I haven’t installed mine yet and I am still looking for other options..if anyone has better idea..please holler back
So thats it I guess…I am more than happy with my FZ-16. And oh yes.. the Yamaha after-sales service is very good. Kudos to the Yamaha team. I hope this was helpful. Enjoy your FZ-16 and drive safe and responsibly.
